HOT!

It is extremely hot here where I live. It has been 100 degrees and a little higher for 4 days. Just thinking about the heat makes me want to puke. It is that hot. Nothing will really grow because it is so hot. My dad is a farmer and his farming equipment isn't working because of the heat. It is that hot. I know that I said the twice but is really that hot. Some of you might say I am exaggerating but I'm not.

Pitting Cherries

We are pitting cherries today. It isn't really hard it is just a little time consuming. We have the manual kind of pitter but you have to punch it through the cherries. I had to pull off the stems and get rid of the rotten ones. I had to do that to a 15 lbs  box. Just to let you know I will not be posting for 2 weeks because I will be on a trip. I will post till then (which is 5 days) but it will be a while before a new post. Thanks for understanding. But as I said I will post up until the day I leave!
Baby Deer Being Born

Yesterday as my family and I were driving home from the pool we saw 2 baby deer with their momma. They were so cute. When the saw us coming the bolted into the woods so we couldn't see them any more but boy were they cute. Comment if you love baby deer! I do!

Heat

Summer. Heat. Ugh. Summer is one of my most favorite times of the year. The heat on the other hand is not one of my favorites. You know how hot it was today? 100 degrees. Yah. That's right 100 degrees. I thought that I was literally going to melt. Literally. I have really thick hair so I et really hot in the summer. It is not fun. If you like the heat, (I don't really) comment saying you like it.

Cleaning Pens

You know what stinks? Cleaning out pig pens. Literally. Today we had to clean out our pig's pen. it was not fun. Ok. I have to confess. We haven't cleaned it out for about 2 weeks. When the pigs eat they loose some of the food out of their mouth because the smack. It starts to pill up and dies together in a hard layer.  The layer today was about 5 inches think. It was really hard to get out but now the pigs have a clean pen.
Picking Cherries

Our cherries have been ripening by the day. They are so good. The cherries are starting to rot so we have to pick them. We start from the top down. The ones o the top are the ripest. To pick them we have climb out my parents bedroom window onto the roof. It is kinda scary but it is the only way to get them down. Comment if you love cherries I love them!

Sorry For The Delays

Sorry for not posting in a few days. I have been really busy lately. Nothing much has been going on here. It has been really hot here. We have to watch our cows because this hot water can cause them to get pneumonia which causes them to have trouble breathing. The start to foam at the mouth and not want to get up from laying down. If it is not cured the can die. It is very serious. Comment if you ever had pneumonia. I have had it 4 times.

Waiting Is A Pain

I am a impatient person. I do not like to wait. We have this cow that is pregnant and I am so tired of waiting for it to come. I hope that it comes soon. It is going to come when we finally give up thinking that it is going to come soon. She is a small cow so I am hoping that the baby is small. This cow's name is Dixie Daisy. She is pretty much my cow because when we were weaning and halter breaking her I spent the most time out in the pen with her training her, brushing her, and giving her treats. I love her. She is my favorite cow so far. She is kind of scary because she have about 6" long horns, but she is super sweet. Comment if you think cows are cute and that you want them. my comment would be that I love them and I am so glad that we have them! They are so cute!
Farming Troubles

The other day when dad was faming he was repairing a part on his swather. He reached up and touched the muffler. It instantly burned his skin. He has a first to second degree burn. It looks terrible. Dad doesn't mind having another scar though. I just feel so bad for him. I know it hurts.

The Problem With Skunks And Dogs

Skunks and dogs do not mix with each other. A dog thinks, "hey you're just like a cat so I am going to chase you and you won't hurt me." Well, that is not the case. Skunks spray and hurt the dog's eyes and then the dogs stick for weeks. Literally weeks. Our Queensland Shepard found out about a skunk and didn't like it. He was sprayed about two and a half weeks ago and still stinks enough that I won't even touch him. Never let your dog get sprayed by a skunk. You will know what I mean about the stinky ness.

Mice Problems

So earlier this evening my brother and I where feeding the chickens when all of a sudden 6 or 7 mice went running from behind the chicken feeder. Of course I screamed because I don't like mice and they are gross. There where ton of them. So after that we ran out of the chicken house yelling and left as fast as we could! Typical day on a farm! Comment if you hate mice or think that they are cute.

I'm Back

I am back from my trip. I had tons of fun. So as I said, I will tell you about my trip. So we went to my uncle's graduation and then to a pool party. After those two things, we went to my other uncle's house for 2 nights, 3 days.  We played on their trampoline and had a water- balloon fight that lasted for about 1 minute. Some of my cousins and my brother ad sister slept on their porch. I didn't because I was not about the idea of sleeping in the pitch black and freezing all night. The pulled an all- nighter until the sun rose which was at 3 am. They had tons of fun and so did I just hanging out and playing with them. My cousins have stilts so I tried to do them. I got about 5 steps on them and then fell off. I didn't get hurt though. I will post tomorrow. I will post a picture of a project I am doing after I finish it.

Posts On Hold

I won't be posting this weekend because I will be out of town. As soon as I get back I will post about my trip. Thanks for understanding!
Chores

A typical day on the farm in the morning is getting up in the morning and doing the chores. Each week we trade off chores. This week I have the chickens and the pigs on our side of the road. What I mean about "our side of the road" is that our Grandma live across the street and we have 2 horses over there and the cows and also another hen house of chickens. For the pigs I have to fill up their water bucket, give them 1 scoop of food, which is about 3 cups in each scoop, and train them. They are 4-H pigs so in August we go to the fair grounds and sell them after you show them. They have to go around the ring. The judge looks for certain things on your pigs. They give them a sonogram to make sure that there is a marbling of fat and muscle. In order to sell they must be 210 pounds.  For the chickens all I have to do is fill their water and check to make sure there are no eggs. If there are eggs I have to gather them and bring them inside to be eaten. I also have to check and make sure that they have food. My chores are pretty simple but they take about 10 minutes to do if I do them fast.
